Dedicated to providing quality, sustainable solutions for his customers and continuous education and training for his employees, William Mock of Mock Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. was honored as the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association’s (PHCC’s) 2021 HVAC Contractor of the Year. The association presented the award – sponsored by PHCC HVAC Partner Rheem – during its annual conference, PHCCCONNECT2021, held in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to PHCC representatives, Mock “epitomizes the skills and attitude celebrated through this award,” which recognizes excellence in the HVACR industry and is awarded to the contractor who best represents the ideals of the profession.

As testament to those principles, Mock has stayed at the forefront of green building processes, working closely with general contractors, owners and LEED professionals to help create buildings that will meet the highest standards of sustainability. For more than 70 years, his company, located in Savannah, Georgia, has been delivering quality commercial plumbing and HVAC services, ranging from custom fabrication to LEED-certified projects to the latest geothermal applications.

“Mock not only believes in building green projects for clients,” said PHCC representatives, “but in being environmentally responsible every day by recycling construction materials and reducing its carbon footprint through energy conservation measures.”

Safety is another priority for Mock. His company’s Safety Incentive Program includes mandatory employee attendance at safety meetings, drug testing, daily job reports, training on the proper use of power tools and construction materials, and a strictly enforced policy that refrigerants and other hazardous materials are handled only by personnel trained and certified in proper usage and disposal.

Mock also is committed to the education, training and professionalism of all employees, offering a new hire orientation; CPR and First Aid, OSHA and equipment training; weekly safety meetings; and annual team leadership meetings. Managers stay up to date by taking continuing education classes, manufacturer courses, training on new equipment, and seminars on safety and code changes.

Committed to the future of his industry, Mock promotes the HVAC profession in local schools, participates in job fairs, and hosts HVAC apprentice programs. His company also participates in PHCC of Georgia’s HVAC apprentice program.

Active participants in their community, Mock Plumbing & Mechanical employees support several local efforts, including toy drives, school fundraisers, and the Two Hundred Club, a group that offers services to the surviving spouses and dependents of law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Recognizing this unwavering commitment to his customers, his employees, his profession, and his community, PHCC’s Hunter Botto and Rheem’s Randy Roberts proudly presented the HVAC Contractor of the Year Award to Mock.
