Federated Insurance is proud to announce their 16th annual “Safety First! Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors (PHCC) Contractor of the Year Award” on October 23, 2021, during the annual business meeting of the PHCC association’s national convention, CONNECT 2021, in Kansas City. This year’s recipients are Brent and Ruby McDiarmid, owners of Glenn Mechanical Inc., a family-owned third-generation business serving the El Dorado, Arkansas area since 1956.

The Safety First! award recognizes a PHCC contractor who takes advantage of Federated’s risk management assistance to effectively implement sound risk management practices. Each year, hundreds of clients are eligible to receive this prestigious honor, but it was Glenn Mechanical Inc.’s dedicated approach to loss control that distinguished them amongst their peers.

Owner Brent McDiarmid and his 65 employees embrace a culture of safety as the most important part of their daily operations. The business frequently uses Federated’s risk management resources and training to implement their own best practices, such as monthly safety meetings and daily toolbox talks. He continues to make safer driving a priority by creating a company driving policy that each driver acknowledges by reading and signing. Additionally, the company has GPS tracking on all vehicles, which provides driving alerts.

To emphasize their commitment, McDiarmid stated, “Glenn Mechanical’s positive safety culture is a direct result of our partnership with Federated. We communicate our safe practices on a regular basis and Federated provides the tools and support needed for our business to maintain a positive safety culture.”
