This month’s spotlight is on PHCC Rising Leader Linda Hudek, who owns and operates LH Plumbing Services in Fairfield, Ohio. Her company provides both residential and commercial plumbing services. As a dedicated licensed master plumber, Linda styles herself with a strong “can do” attitude that works wonders in Ohio.
Linda has been in the plumbing trade for 18 years and has owned her own plumbing business for 12 years. At age 17, she began working in the plumbing trade with her dad in commercial new construction. Early on she favored both the challenge and execution that comes with physical work and the rapidly changing workplace settings while meeting new clients. She also garnered an Associates of Business Management degree while working for her father.
Early in her career Linda transitioned into service plumbing and branched out into drain cleaning to drum up business. Most of her service plumbing business today includes residential, commercial and plumbing remodeling. Her talents also shift over to natural gas, sewer, water line replacements, and more.
As the owner of her own company today, she wholeheartedly states that “the trades offer a unique opportunity to those desiring a stable career with the ability to expand and grow.” She adds, “On the job training is the norm and a good company will provide that along with an apprenticeship (such as the one PHCC offers).”
She Gets Involved
Initially, Linda joined PHCC as a board member and became Vice President of the PHCC of Ohio chapter. She is currently the President of PHCC of Ohio which lobbies the state legislators and national leaders on key issues. She said they are currently working to pass a residential licensing bill in Ohio.
Linda admits she would like to see more women and men enter the trade and is willing to mentor people wanting to enter this industry.
Best of all, she relates to plumbing and its future initiatives, “Our trade will always be necessary to support a modern way of life.”
Linda states, “I was honored to be selected as (CONTRACTOR Magazine’s) Contractor of the Year and hope that my journey can inspire others to work hard and be plumbers who are honest in business.”
Bravo, Linda!
