FALLS CHURCH, Va. (Oct. 22, 2026) – A career built on service, technical expertise, and a commitment to helping others succeed has earned Eddie Hollub, president of Modern Plumbing and Air Conditioning in Pasadena, Texas, the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association’s (PHCC’s) highest honor. Hollub, who was PHCC National president in 2002-2003, received the Col. George D. Scott Award during PHCC CONNECT 2026 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, recognizing his more than three decades of leadership and service to PHCC and the plumbing industry.

Inspired by PHCC’s inaugural president, Col. George D. Scott, this prestigious award recognizes a PHCC member who has provided years of service and unselfish devotion to the association and the industry, with far-reaching benefits to fellow contractors.

“Eddie has spent decades giving his time, knowledge, and energy to PHCC and to the people who make up our industry,” says PHCC Chief Executive Officer Cindy Sheridan. “His leadership has reached from the local level to the national stage, and his influence can be seen in the standards, education, and relationships he has helped build along the way. Eddie represents the very best of PHCC membership – someone who believes in giving back, bringing others into the industry, and helping fellow contractors succeed.”

Hollub’s PHCC service spans every level of the association. He has held every local officer position with Gulf Coast PHCC and served on its board, held every state officer position with PHCC of Texas, served as a zone director, and represented PHCC nationally as a board member and as 2002-2003 National president.

His contributions to the industry extend well beyond his formal leadership roles. Hollub worked with PHCC member Bill Jones of Houston, Texas, to develop original installation practices and material requirements for medical gas systems, work that helped inform code development and later continuing education criteria and testing procedures. His efforts began at the state level and ultimately contributed to the development of standards through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). He also served as an industry expert for the State of Texas in developing the southern state building code.

Hollub also has been a strong advocate for professional standards and regulation. As a national PHCC representative, he spoke before Congress about the importance of national codes and standards, particularly the need for appropriate regulation of medical gas systems.

Beyond his formal leadership roles, Hollub has made a lasting commitment to helping the next generation of plumbing professionals. He has donated countless hours sharing his time, expertise, and resources with Texas plumbers, helping them build their skills as they enter and advance in the industry. He provided this support at no charge, asking only that those he helped sit in on a local PHCC board meeting to see and be surrounded by the culture of true trade professionals.

At gatherings filled with newly licensed plumbers, Hollub encouraged them to get involved with PHCC and connect with experienced contractors who could offer guidance on projects, installation methods and requirements, starting or expanding a business, and the many challenges of building a career in the trades. “Get in the room at these PHCC meetings,” he would say. “That’s where you’ll find the best bank of information.”

That commitment to relationships has been a defining part of Hollub’s PHCC leadership. When fellow members encouraged him to run for National President, he initially questioned whether he was the right person for the role. Ultimately, he accepted the challenge, traveling to state chapter events, meeting members, and building relationships across the country.

“Eddie has shown consistent dedication to PHCC and the plumbing-heating-cooling industry through his leadership, service, and long-standing support of our association,” wrote his nominators. “His professionalism, integrity, and commitment to advancing our industry make him an exceptional candidate for this honor. Eddie’s contributions have strengthened our organization and reflect the values this award represents.”
