Federated Insurance announced that this year’s recipient of their 18th annual “Safety First! Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors (PHCC) Contractor of the Year Award” is Greg Brenneman, president and owner of Brenneco Plumbing.

The announcement was made during the PHCC association’s national convention, PHCCCONNECT2023, in Cleveland, Ohio, held on October 25-27, 2023. “It is humbling and an honor to be recognized by our insurance company for the safety culture that we have developed over the years,” Brenneman stated.

Safety Mindset Runs Throughout Company The Safety First! Award recognizes a PHCC contractor who takes advantage of Federated’s risk management assistance to effectively implement sound risk management practices. Each year, hundreds of clients are eligible to receive this prestigious honor, but it was Brenneco Plumbing’s commitment to safety and setting good examples from management to employees each and every day that helped them stand out.

Greg Brenneman and the company’s 24 employees have worked hard to develop a workplace environment that is based on principles over profit. Brenneco has served the Lafayette area since 1987.

Everyone at Brenneco Plumbing understands that safety and risk management are consistently changing due to trade advancements and societal shifts. Brenneman noted that because of this, he wants every employee to have the same level of knowledge and training regarding the risks they face each day as management does, with a mentality of “do unto others as you want them to do to you.”

Federated Insurance logo“Safety is a mindset,” Brenneman said. “We develop and promote a family environment as a foundational part of our company culture. Risk management then becomes an integral part because everyone has a genuine interest and concern for the well-being of each other.”

Brenneco employees have participated in multiple safety sessions and classes, and plan to begin using Federated DriveSAFE Telematics, a solution for clients that is geared toward impacting employees’ daily driving habits through motivation, knowledge, and awareness, starting in early November.
