The association presented the award – sponsored by PHCC HVAC Partner Rheem – during its annual conference, PHCCCONNECT2021, held in Kansas City, Missouri.

Recognized as a symbol of excellence in the plumbing industry, the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association’s (PHCC’s) Plumbing Contractor of the Year award was presented this year to two deserving professionals: Paul Ongaro of Ongaro & Sons in California and James Lindsey of Lindsey Brothers, Inc., in Virginia.

With nearly 50 years of experience in the HVAC profession, and dedication to the future of that industry as director and owner of Granite State Trade School in New Hampshire, Jim Fusco was named the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association’s (PHCC’s) 2021 HVAC Instructor of the Year. The award – sponsored by PHCC Corporate Partner Milwaukee Tool – was announced Oct. 21 during PHCCCONNECT2021, the association’s annual conference, held in Kansas City, Missouri.

Recognized for his outstanding leadership and dedication to his students at Norfolk Technical Center in Virginia, Anthony Bertolino was named the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association’s (PHCC’s) 2021 Plumbing Instructor of the Year. Recognizing decades of devotion to his mission and to the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association, PHCC presented its highest honor, the Col. George D. Scott Award, to Jones during its annual awards ceremony, held Oct. 22 at PHCCCONNECT2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.

It is amazing that over six years have passed since I began my tenure as PHCC’s chief staff officer and this year has been filled with many “last times.” It’s been the last time for building budgets, preparing strategic plans, visiting corporate partners and sponsors, presenting at chapter conventions, participating in media podcasts, attending Alliance meetings, writing this PHCC CEO Team Brief, and now constructing our face-to-face PHCCCONNECT2021.

As the PHCC National team enters into its renewal efforts, membership value needs to be front and center for the upcoming year. While it’s been a major focus area within the PHCC strategic plan, the federation is not growing sufficiently to outpace members who’ve left, in addition to recruiting new members.
