The impact of COVID–19 has profoundly changed business as we know it. Not only did companies have to change many of their work practices, but employees have found they have lots more options when it comes to how, when, and where they can get their work done.
Even the term “workplace” has potentially become obsolete. Companies that never thought they would (or should) offer telecommuting opportunities have been forced to do so. Now, the place that employees work has merged with the places that they eat, sleep, exercise, play and raise their kids and pets.
So, with all of these changes, how do you make sure that you are giving employees the time and attention they need? This attention is not just the kind that focuses on getting the work done, but how do you help your employees survive and thrive during a very challenging time?
It’s going to be awhile before we figure out what the new normal is going to be, but whatever those changes are — there is no more “business as usual”. In the case of COVID–19, the only thing we know for certain is that things are going to change.
