PHCC Installs Jim Finley as 2007-2008 PresidentJim Finley, owner of a second-generation plumbing company, C.N. Finley, Inc., New Orleans, La., was installed as the 2007-2008 Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) president during ceremonies held at the organization’s recent convention in Anaheim, Calif. Finley will serve the 4,100-member organization throughout its 125th year of existence. After five years in the Air Force, Finley took over the management of C.N. Finley, Inc., in 1968. The company was founded in 1934 by his father, Carl N. Finley, a previous PHCC-National Association president (1960). Finley serves on the Louisiana State Plumbing Board and its Advisory Board (since 1970), including six years as vice chairman and 14 years as chairman. A registered professional engineer, he is a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, Dept. of Health & Hospitals, and the American Society of Sanitary Engineering, where he serves as co-chairman of the Seal Committee. He is also the PHCC representative on the International Plumbing Code Committee. In his role as PHCC president, Finley hopes to entice more people to enter the skilled trades by promoting funding for and the marketing of the trades as a career path. To this end, he has spearheaded the creation of National Plumbing Week, scheduled for April 2008. This PHCC-sponsored initiative will bring recognition to the industry and educate the public on the contribution that the professional plumbing-heating-cooling contractor makes to the health, safety and comfort of society. Another of Finley’s concerns is the increasing cost of medical and liability insurance. He hopes to continue PHCC’s efforts to gain approval of Small Business Health Plan national legislation. The PHCC-National Association, formed in 1883, provides legislative advocacy, education and training to more than4,000 plumbing and HVACR businesses and 80,000 technicians. Members of PHCC have access to a wide variety of services designed to increase their professionalism, grow their business and improve profitability.
