Alton Shannon Named 2006 HVAC Contractor of the Year by Trane and PHCC National

Shannon, nominated by the Iron Range Association of PHCC, was selected for his professionalism, merchandising skills, management techniques, innovative HVAC practices, trade involvement and community service.  He is a member of the Minnesota board of directors, and has held several other industry-related offices.   Shannon is known for his involvement in both the community and the industry. For example, he purchased an old school and renovated it to become his office, showroom and a classroom for the apprentice program. 

The first runner-up honor went to Tom Warner, President of Utility Service Express, LLC, Reston, Va., who was nominated by the Plumbing & Mechanical Professionals of Virginia.  

The second runner-up honor went to Patrick Nugent, President of John Nugent & Sons, Inc. in McLean, Va., who was also nominated by the Plumbing & Mechanical Professionals of Virginia.  Nugent is the 2006 President of the Northern Virginia Chapter of PHCC.

Candidates for “HVAC Contractor of the Year” are evaluated by a committee of PHCC members using a 100-point system that weighs accomplishments in six areas: Professionalism, Merchandising Skills, Management Skills, Innovative Plumbing Skills, Trade Involvement and Community Service.  In recognition of being named HVAC

Contractor of the Year, Shannon receives a check for $2,500 and a crystal award. The runners-up received a check for $500 and a plaque.
