Assistance, Resources Available for Hurricane Recovery Efforts
Sept. 21, 2017
By PHCC Staff
As businesses continue to recover from hurricanes Harvey and Irma, government agencies and other organizations are releasing funds and other resources. Of particular note to contractors:
- The Department of Labor (DOL) is setting aside funding and will be making grants to assist in disaster response efforts after Hurricane Irma. The DOL initially has committed up to $40 million in Disaster Dislocated Worker Grant funding. Read more here for a list of activities to assist those in affected states and territories.
- OSHA and the American Society of Safety Engineers have partnered to distribute protective equipment and other resources to those in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey. The equipment will be distributed to area businesses and recovery workers by staff from OSHA’s Houston and Corpus Christi offices as they provide support to the many employers and contractors assisting with cleanup and recovery.
- The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety has posted valuable information on recovery resources, plus post-storm safety guidelines and insurance claim tips.
- PHCC has activated its Disaster Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to members in need. Your donation will assist members who are adversely affected by major disasters now and in the future. PHCC members may use funds to offset costs to clean up flood damage, repair or replace equipment, etc.
