DOE Working Group Concludes Air Conditioning Regional Standards Review
A working group of U.S. Dept. of Energy and industry stakeholders – which includes PHCC Vice President of Technical and Code Services Chuck White – wrapped up negotiations last week on the enforcement of new regional standards for residential air conditioners that are slated to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2015.
A report is now being drafted for review. White’s voice has been critical in this process, as he’s the only contractor participating in these meetings and the only person in the group who has installed or serviced an air conditioner in the field. Still to come is the decision of DOE as to whether developing regional standards for non-weatherized furnaces should be pursued. As soon as the process is complete, PHCC will post information on the final rules in this publication. Stay tuned!
