Historic Congressional Health Care Hearing This Week
Congress holds hearings everyday while in session. However, only a handful of hearings are truly historic. An important one will occur Wednesday, Oct. 30, when U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, along with other Administration officials, testifies about how to address the problems associated with the new Internet-based health care reform exchange websites. Health and Human Services is the federal agency in charge of the implementation and public education of the new law—including the exchange websites, which are designed to offer insurance plan information and pricing. You can access the hearing here, choosing the“Webcast A” option.
This is the latest in a series of House hearings on the problems of the new health care reform exchanges. Last week, government contract companies involved with designing the software for the exchanges testified. PHCC National will provide a summary of the hearings for members once they’ve been completed.
