PHCC Participates in EPA Hearing on Lead Paint in Commercial and Public Buildings
The upcoming lead paint rule for commercial and public buildings must be based on sound science, industry/contractor groups stressed to the EPA during a hearing last week that PHCC attended. The rising costs to comply with the upcoming rule almost must be taken into consideration, the groups advised.
The hearing was conducted by Wendy Cleland of the EPA Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics and EPA Specialist Hans Scheifele of the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention. PHCC National will continue to engage with EPA during the rule development process. EPA is bound by law to finalize a rule no later than 2015, with enforcement to begin in 2016.
