FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Freshly inducted as the new president for the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC), Patrick Wallner already is hitting the ground running with his theme for the year: “Collaborating for Success.”
“As an association, we are strong,” says the new leader, who is also president of Wallner Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning in Redding, California. “Together, we become even stronger and better able to affect positive changes in our industry.”
Since taking the helm at PHCC during the association’s CONNECT 2016 conference and tradeshow in San Antonio, Texas, in October, Wallner has made it his mission to focus on PHCC’s new five-year strategic plan, particularly tackling the workforce shortage in the p-h-c industry, increasing HVAC education and offerings to members, addressing regulatory oversight, and boosting membership. “I see many opportunities to attract more young people to our profession and add more services,” he says.
Wallner’s role as PHCC president is just the latest in his 25-year journey through many leadership positions. A second-generation plumbing contractor involved in his family’s business for more than 27 years, he has served as president of Wallner, Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning for nearly two decades, managing its 20 employees and aiming to grow the business in a professional manner that is beneficial to his customers, his employees, and his community.
A significant contributor to PHCC’s Educational Foundation, Wallner was named to the Foundation’s Board of Governors just last year. He also served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors for the past two years. In community leadership, Wallner has been president of his Rotary Club, local and district president of the Sierra Pacific District Exchange Clubs, and chairman of the Greater Redding Area Chamber of Commerce, among other positions. He views these many efforts as an ultimate way to give back to the industry that has helped make him successful in business.
Crediting PHCC with giving him countless networking opportunities and helping him grow his business – including what led his company to add HVAC to its contractors’ license more than 20 years ago – Wallner is eager to travel the country and Canada this year as the ambassador for PHCC. “If I can leave PHCC a little better than it was when my year started,” he says, “I will know that I have done a good job.”
