PHCC Wrote the Book: The National Standard Plumbing CodePHCC-National Association published the Standard Plumbing Code in 1933 and furnished revised editions until 1942. The association participated in the development of special standards for wartime plumbing work. PHCC was later represented on the National Standard Code Coordinating Committee, whose work ultimately resulted in the adoption of A40.8 as a standard or model plumbing code in 1955. In 1971, the PHCC-National Association published the National Standard Plumbing Code (NSPC) in order to provide local and state governments, code administrative bodies and industry with a modern code, designed to ensure the proper installation of plumbing sustems. It has been maintained on a yearly basis, following the proven basic principles necessary to protect public health and safety. NSPC Committee Policies and Procedures Get the most current NSPCIllustrated and non-illustrated versions of the National Standard Plumbing Code are published every three years, with supplements added after each annual revision cycle. It is available in print or electronically on CD. Annual review and widespread input keeps it current and viableThe NSPC is reviewed annually and updated every 18 months by the NSPC Committee, which is comprised of licensed contractors, engineers and inspectors along with manufacturers — with input from all interested parties. Proposed changes may be submitted for approval until the date noted on the form for each year. They are considered, discussed, and voted on at a public hearing. A two-thirds vote is required to accept a proposed change. There are no fees required for submission or approval.
