Green Resources

PHCC is undertaking several initiatives in the green construction and water conservation movement:

Alliances

• Endorses the GreenPlumbers® training program
• Partner with EPA’s WaterSense program
• Member of the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE)

Water Conservation Resources

PHCC is promoting EPA’s “Fix a Leak Week”:  Because minor water leaks account for more than one trillion gallons of water wasted each year in U.S. homes, PHCC is promoting “Fix a Leak Week,” March 15-21, 2010.

Task Force

PHCC has a special task force to guide efforts in green plumbing and water conservation. PHCC’s Green Task Force is working to:

• Provide clear direction for the association’s role as a leader in sustainable construction and water conservation
• Guide members with best practices and strategies to get involved in this emerging marketplace
• Seek reasonable and practical water conservation solutions
• Establish relationships with industry groups working to address green issues

Members of the task force are also participating on IAPMO’s CAUSE Committee, charged with the responsibility to understand and respond to the industry’s demands regarding energy efficiency, water conservation and other green issues. The task force also has a representative on IAPMO’s Green Technical Committee, which will make code recommendations related to environmental sustainability.

The Task Force is interested in learning how PHCC members are incorporating green practices in their businesses, as well as the challenges and opportunities they encounter. Please contact Elicia Magruder by e-mail at magruder@naphcc.org or phone at 1-800-533-7694 to share your story.

“Green” Members in the News

Where We Stand

PHCC has adopted position papers supporting water conservation and waterless urinals (with some stipulations). PHCC has decided not to endorse 1.3 gpf toilets until proven technology is developed that will support the performance of lower gpf toilets within existing sewer infrastructures.

It’s Not Easy Being Green, without PHCC
With all the attention these days on the stimulus package and other green initiatives, this constant presence is crucial for PHCC members and the p-h-c industry overall.
