What is Government Relations?

125th Anniversary Rally Photo

PHCC-National Association’s Government Relations Department provides the p-h-c industry representation in Washington, D.C., in a number of different areas, including small business issues, healthcare reform, tort reform, tax-related matters, and code and regulatory affairs, etc.

The Government Relations Department provides PHCC-National Association contractors with the tools they need to be of aware of legislation that impacts their business on a federal, state or local level.  With one simple click of your mouse, position papers for p-h-c industry related issues can be accessed.

In addition, the Government Relations Department is home to the PHCC-National Association Political Action Committee (PAC).  The PAC is responsible for making campaign contributions to candidates who support the p-h-c industry.

The Capitol Exchange, an e-mail communications forum for PHCC members and national, state and local leaders to discuss legislative and regulatory issues, is available to all PHCC-National Association members, state and local associations.

Finally, the Government Relations Departments holds an annual legislative conference in Washington, D.C.  This conference offers contractors and paid staff an opportunity to participate “first-hand” in the legislative process and actually lobby their legislators on issues of concern to the member and PHCC-National Association issues.

Consensus Docs

PHCC endorses ConsensusDOCS™, a family of model contract documents based on best practices and proper risk allocation for the benefit of all members of the construction industry.  Built by consensus for the best interests of the project, ConsensusDOCS™ has 23 Endorsing Organizations that represent contractors, designers, owners, subcontractors and sureties. The groups work together to draft contracts that are in the best interests of the project, rather than representing one association's constituency. The contract series topics include collaborative documents, design-build, subcontracting and program management.  Click here to log in and get a PHCC members-only discount partner code for ordering.
(Note:  ConsensusDOCS requires a software download; see step-by-step purchasing tips here.)
