The New York, New York Hotel in Las Vegas set the stage for this year’s Union-Affiliated Contractors (UAC) “Unity” Conference held on Feb. 27 through March 1, 2017. This annual PHCC enhanced group event drew nearly seventy UA signatory plumbing contractors, UA labor leaders, and PHCC association executives to openly discuss collective bargaining trends, market share strategies and learn how to operate their businesses and local unions more effectively.
More Than a Thousand Contractors Unite to Protect Prevailing Wage... and They Need Your Help
Jefferson City, Missouri – A coalition of more than 1,000 Missouri-based construction contractors in 14 trade associations across the state including the Plumbing Industry Council (MO) and the PHCC of Missouri want your help in fighting the repeal of Missouri’s current Prevailing Wage law in House Bill #104.
Missouri’s union and open shop construction contractors collectively agree: the more than 60-year-old existing Prevailing Wage Law – which is the minimum hourly wage and benefit package paid to a worker on a public works construction project – is extremely valuable to our economy. The law keeps local dollars within our communities, creates local jobs and cultivates economic growth.
It’s about keeping these public construction projects in our own backyard through a fair and level playing field for our local contractors with predominantly local workers – translating to the retention of those local tax dollars in our communities.
