Check out "Trade Life: Uniting for Flint," a recent YouTube video which showcases the volunteer efforts of UA Local 370 in Flint, Michigan. Local contractors, various plumbing industry suppliers and manufacturers donated their time and materials to install fixtures and water filters for Flint residents who have been dealing with lead exposure in their water supply over the past year.

"Change is Inevitable"
By Bill Harrison, The Coach's Corner Change is happening all of the time, even if you are doing nothing. We need to examine who is in charge of that change; it often isn't management. For example, management puts out clear guidance on how some particular paperwork must be completed—maybe service tickets or daily job logs. Folks in the field do not comply and sometimes are not even close to compliance. Management grumbles about it but doesn't get it corrected. The field folks have just implemented a change.

OSHA recently released updated recordkeeping rules for workplace injuries. These changes will require electronic reporting of injury reports, which likely will be made public. Also, additional language has been added that requires employers to follow specific anti-retaliatory messaging and practices. The reporting rules will be effective Jan. 1, 2017.
